ARCH Disability Law Centre represented a coalition of 20 Canadian disability rights groups in requesting a public hearing before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) regarding discrimination and human rights violations in Canada’s expanded MAiD legislation.
The coalition emphasized that persons with disabilities are selecting MAiD out of desperation due to dehumanizing social and economic conditions, lack of housing, and inadequate community supports.
